President’s Message

Even though the summer is over, Fall is here and for many of us in the Hudson Valley, It’s our favorite season. For the PNA, our past year has been productive. We began our year last September (2021) with our awards event (postponed from May due to Covid concerns). We honored, Donna Law, Carol Moran, Cindy Paradiso, Karen Sieverding, Debbie Williams, our faithful members for their long term commitment to our professional organization and Joy Godin & Jan Viola for their community service during the Covid pandemic.

President’s Message

It’s been four years since I was President of this organization and I am humbled and honored to serve.

Long before the pandemic hit, 2020 was declared “The Year of the Nurse” and what a year it has been and continues to be! This is a pivotal time for nurses. After being asked to step up and tackle what seems like the impossible, we did and we continued to do it over and over again every day while under unprecedented pressure. Nurses are truly the hero’s of the pandemic! But what keeps us on track and willing to perform the impossible every day? Each day we, in so many words, tell our patients “you don’t have to worry about anything now, we have your back”. We are the point of stability and the absolute constant in our patients lives. We are the most committed group of professionals and we keep going and move forward even when we are unaware of what comes next or what effect it will have on ourselves or our families.

President’s Message

Dear Colleagues,

Last fall the World Health Organization declared 2020 as the Year of the Nurse. When this information was announced, I recall quietly contemplating all the wonderful ways we could incorporate celebrating nurses and the nursing profession in the upcoming year. I envisioned the awards dinner in May to be a momentous occasion which would celebrate our skills, our knowledge, our resilience, our dedication, and highlight all that encompasses the nursing profession.

But then, COVID-19 happened.

Dear Honored Members:

This year we attained another milestone by achieving designation as an organizational affiliate of ANA-NY. Currently one state-level specialty nursing and only seven local (NY) nurses associations are organizational affiliates with ANA-NY. The Professional Nurses Association of Dutchess/Putnam, Inc. is now one of the seven!
